Dixon's interest in military lineage, dress and insignia was initially sparked by his involvement with the Leeds Grammar School Combined Cadets Force. Subsequent national service in the Duke of Wellington's Regiment, from 1959 to 1961, encouraged him to acquire and study all items pertaining to the Regiment and its predecessors, the 33rd and 76th Foot.He has contributed various articles to the journal of the Society of Army Historical Research, the bulletin of the Military Historical Society, 'Crown Imperial' and the 'Iron Duke'. His book, History of the West York Rifle Volunteers, was published in 1976.
Retirement from the world of professional golf after a 34-year career has enabled Dixon to concentrate as a professional dealer in militaria. He is a familiar figure at militaria shows throughout the UK and has represented Dix Noonan Webb as our militaria specialist since 1998.
