After graduating from Exeter University in 2004 with a degree in Ancient History and Archaeology, Laura joined Bonham’s Oxford saleroom as a trainee in the jewellery department, working her way up to become a specialist, whilst studying at night school to obtain further qualifications in the History of Art and Architecture, and professional gemmology FGA and DGA qualifications. In 2011 Laura was promoted to be Bonhams Jewellery Specialist for the South West and she spent the next four years successfully building a strong client base across the region. In addition, Laura has been an auctioneer since 2007, an aspect of her work of which she is particularly proud, and she is keen to see other females following her on to the rostrum.

In 2015 Laura was invited, with Frances Noble, to form DNW’s new Jewellery department. This has gone from strength to strength, and is now an important venue on London’s Jewellery auction circuit. Her highlights so far have included cataloging and selling some wonderful and interesting private collections including the personal archive of celebrated silversmith Louis Osman, the ‘collection of a gentleman’ of Victorian jewels (in 2019) and the Culling collection of Military Watches.

Laura especially enjoys researching and cataloguing unusual or historic jewels and has a particular interest in Medieval and post-Medieval antiquarian jewellery. She is also engaged as an independent valuer for the Treasure Valuation Committee at the British Museum.

Based in Bridport on the beautiful Jurassic Coast, Laura’s focus is now on meeting clients and collectors across the South and West of England. In their spare time Laura and her partner Christopher can be found climbing mountains or cycling up some of Dorset’s many hills, although the arrival, in 2020, of their daughter Florence, has curtailed these activities somewhat.
