Griffin, A.C., Notes on the 17th [Century] Tokens of Somerset, comprising 2 white folders of neatly handwritten photocopied MSS totalling 337pp, incorporating woodcuts of tokens and a vast amount of background information on the issuers, including family trees, largely compiled in the years immediately prior to, and after, World War II [2]. A fascinating copy of the original document which remains in private hands, containing information absolutely essential for anyone wishing to compile a modern illustrated reference on Somerset 17th century tokens in the future, as much of the information within cannot be found elsewhere £200-300

Not suitable for shipping. Arthur Charles Griffin (1919-83), a civil servant and noted collector and student of Somerset tokens, lived in Bath. The records of the Consistory Court of the Archdeaconry of Taunton, which were deposited at the Probate Registry at Exeter, were destroyed by enemy action during World War II
