Footnote

The 4th Goorkha Regiment was raised in 1857 as the Extra Goorkha Regiment and was re-designated the 4th Goorkha Regiment in 1861. The regimental history confirms that it took part in the Umbeyla and Looshai campaigns and in operations on the North-West Frontier of India in the period 1863-72, in addition to seeing service throughout the Second Afghan War 1878-80.
