Thomas Dundas was gazetted Ensign, 52nd Foot, 17 January 1808; Lieutenant, 16th February 1809; Lieutenant, 1st Dragoons, 12 October 1809; Captain, 26 December 1811; Captain, 15th Hussars, 13th August 1812; Major, 3rd Ceylon Regiment, 12 September 1816; retired half-pay from the latter regiment with the rank Lieutenant-Colonel.From the above it is apparent that he served at Vimiera and Corunna with the 52nd Foot, at Fuentes d'Onor with the Royal Dragoons, and at Orthes and Toulouse with the 15th Hussars. He was also present in the expedition to the Walcheren in 1809. His seat was at Carron Hall, Stirlingshire, and his family was an elder branch of that of the Earl of Zetland, and one of the few untitled families that bore supporters. He died on 24th May, 1860.
