An early 20th century platinum mounted solitaire diamond ring and a matched platinum diamond set wedding band, the first ring with a brilliant-cut diamond in four claw setting, between foliate diamond set shoulders, the shank partially decorated with engraved repeating foliate detail, stamped ‘plat’, the matched platinum wedding band shaped to accommodate the first ring, channel set with brilliant-cut diamonds, millegrain edged throughout, the shank decorated with continuous engraved detail, with similarly decorated to one side of the ring, principal diamond weight approximately 0.50-0.55 carats, total diamond weight for wedding band approximately 2.6 carats, both rings size L. £1000-1200

Condition Report

First ring, diamond with estimated clarity of SI2-P1, dark spot inclusion near to the girdle, pale translucent inclusion by girdel, and a smattering of small dot inclusions to one side of the table. Estimated colour I, the diamond is quite bright and lively. The diamond detail to the shoulders are small brilliant-cuts. The engraved decoration is still crisp, the shank is stamped ‘plat’, and still clear. The shank is not worn thin, only light surface wear. First ring weight 6.5gm. The wedding band has been later made to match the first ring, and is in good condition, light wear only. Total diamond weight within the second ring is 13 x 0.02 carats = approximately 2.6 carats. Second ring weighs 5.6gm.
