A late nineteenth century gold mounted diamond cluster set bangle, adapting to a brooch, the bangle centred with an old brilliant-cut champagne diamond within a cluster surround of smaller white old-cut diamonds, all claw set, mounted to a triangular section hollow hinged bangle, the cluster detaching to fit a knife-edge brooch mount, principal diamond approximately 1.30 carats, remaining total diamond weight approximately 1.2 carats, internal bangle width 57mm, bar brooch length 55mm. £2600-3000

Condition Report

The central diamond is a soft brown tinted colour, (untested for natural colour), and has an even colour saturation throughout, with high crown, and good proportions; there is a chip on the girdle of the stone, which extends a little into the stone, otherwise the stone is clean with minimal inclusions. Due to the chip, estimated clarity is P1. The remaining old-cut diamonds are well matched, bright lively stones. The cluster detaches easily from the bangle setting, having a screw thread. The cluster when detached from the bangle weights 3.1gm. Weight of the bangle (without the cluster) is 10.6 gm, weight of the brooch fitting is 4.9gm. Both settings are in good condition, and have minimal surface wear. Neither is hallmarked.
