Civilian: A mid sized pilot’s two button chronograph wristwatch, by Lemania, the signed black dial with silvered baton hour markers and Arabic numerals at 12 and 6, within chronograph seconds scale, 1-12 telemeter 1 mile scale and outer 60-900 base 1 miles scale, centre sweep seconds hand, and subsidiary dials for chronograph 30 minutes at 3 o’clock and for running seconds at 9 o’clock, unsigned jewelled movement, steel case with two chronograph buttons to the band at 3 and 5 o’clock, the screw down back numbered ‘39971’, on black leather strap, dial diameter 28mm. £1,500-£2,000

Condition Report

The dial is in good condition with a little evidence of wear. The glass shows slight wear only. The movement looks fine, runs when wound (movement available on request), and the chronograph function appear to work OK - untested for timekeeping. The case shows a little surface wear all over and a few scuffs. Width of watch head 32.5mm (excluding the push buttons). The leather strap shows some evidence of use, but in good condition.
We recommend that all watches purchased at auction will require/benefit from a full service. This watch case has been opened during cataloguing and loosely reclosed - we recommend professional resealing.


Highly regarded for their prowess in producing chronometer movements, Lemania were the sole supplier of chronographs to the British military from the 1940s until the 1970s.
