A late Victorian emerald and diamond heart-shaped ring, gold and silver mounted, the central emerald within a surround of old-cut diamonds in silver pinched collet setting, between trifurcated shoulders and polished shank, with unassociated Cartier ring box, ring size N½. £1,600-£2,000

Condition Report

The central emerald is a good rich mid green colour (emerald untested for origin); it has a small chip on the edge of the girdle, and abrasions across the surface of the stone, in particular a scratched line running horizontally across the centre of the table. The diamond total weight is approximately 1.50 carats - well matched old-cut diamonds, approximate clarity VS1-2. The shank is rather thin to the back and has been resized. Gross weight 4.4gm.
