Extremely fine, an attractive golfing plaque; in original blue fitted case of issue by Leopoldo Janesich, Gioielliere, Trieste [this partly fragile] £120-£150

Provenance: DNW Auction 30, 16 July 1997, lot 760.The Brioni Old Course, at Fazana, Croatia, opened in 1922, was said at the time to be the largest golf course on mainland Europe. The 18-hole course was designed by Tom Simpson and George Thomas. The ‘79’ on the medal almost certainly refers to the number of strokes played; today the course is a par 72
