Angelica Kauffmann (1741-1807) was a Swiss classical artist who had a highly successful career in London and Rome, and was a skilled artist in portraiture, historical genre and landscape. Kauffmann was one of the two female founding members of the Royal Academy in London in 1768, the other being Mary Moser.

Portrait of a Lady as a Vestal Virgin, painted 1781-2, is now in the collection of the Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister in Dresden.
