The fine collection of attributed British Officers' Swords formed by Hal Giblin
Hal Giblin
Swords of the Heavy and Light Cavalry, Brigade of Guards, Infantry, Indian Army, and Royal Navy are amongst the swords represented here. From the fine quality productions of Henry Wilkinson of Pall Mall, whose swords are usually numbered and can be identified through the proof books preserved by the company to this day, to the swords purchased during the Great War through outfitters, as part of the required kit of Temporary Officers - sometimes unkindly referred to as ‘Temporary Gentlemen’! Some of the swords on offer have family crests of the owners initials etched thereon, and most are accompanied by detailed research and portraits of the men who wore them.
