Footnote

George Ritchie enlisted into the 75th Foot on 16 February 1814, joining the regiment on 7 July that year. He appears to have served with the Band for most of his career but what instrument he played is not known. He served with the regiment throughout the Kaffir War of 1834-35 but did not claim his medal in 1853. He was discharged on 30 April 1839, and received his L.S. & G.C. medal from the Linlithgow Staff Officer of Pensions at Stirling on 22 December 1842. Sold with copy discharge papers and full muster details.
