William Bridges, who was born at Brentford, Middlesex and enlisted at Hounslow, was killed in action on the Zonnebeke-Langemarck road on 21 October 1914, while serving in the 2nd Battalion, The Queen’s Regiment.The 2nd Queen’s Royal West Surreys lost 18 men killled on this date, in addition to 123 wounded and 37 missing.
Bridges is commemorated on the Menin Gate, Ypres and on Brentford War Memorial; sold with photographs of the former, including relevant panel.
