Charles Juke was born in Dinton, Salisbury. A Butcher by occupation, living at Fitz Farm, Dinton, he attested for short service with the Imperial Yeomanry at Chippenham on 28 February 1901, aged 25 years, 5 months. Posted to the 1st (Wiltshire) Company, 1st Battalion Imperial Yeomanry, he served in South Africa, 23 March 1901-27 August 1902. He was discharged at Aldershot on 3 September 1902 at the termination of his engagement. With copied service papers.
