S. H. Geldard.) mounted for display purposes together with the related miniature awards in a Spink, London, glazed display frame, lacquered, minor verdigris from one mounting pin to edge of VM, otherwise about extremely fine (4) £1000-1400

London Gazette 4 June 1917.Stephen Humphrey Geldard was commissioned Second Lieutenant in the South Wales Borderers, and joined the 2nd Battalion in the Gallipoli theatre of War on 26 May 1915, as part of a substantial reinforcement of 15 officers and 208 men. Invalided out in July 1915, he was promoted Lieutenant on 10 January 1916, and subsequently served on the Western Front, being awarded the Military Cross in the 1917 Birthday Honour’s List. Posted to the Machine Gun Corps, he was promoted Captain on 1 August 1918.
