M.M. London Gazette 24 January 1919Richard Sargent served in the 8th Battalion, Lincolnshire Regiment in the Great War. The edition of the London Gazette containing his M.M. announcement generally reflects awards for the period 8 August to 3 September 1918. The 8th Lincolns were engaged at the Second Battles of the Somme 1918 including the Battle of Albert: 21 – 23 August 1918 and the Second Battle of Bapaume: 31 August – 3 September 1918.
A handwritten note with the lot states that Richard Sargent was wounded once and served two years and eight months overseas.
