Bury St. Edmunds, Gilebert, obverse [S-F] NE: square E, reverse [---] RT: ON:S: Ec [D], round E, 17.9 grains. Half flat both sides, otherwise fine, very rare, the moneyer known in this type at Sudbury (BMC 183, re-attributed, and BMC 211) and at this mint for type I (BMC 4-8 and Prestwich Hoard), the round E most unusual (£300-350)

Hedon (near Hull), Gerard, obverse STIEFNE:., reverse GERARD: [O] N: HEDVN, N’s reversed, 21.0 grains (see Elmore Jones, BNJ XXXVI, Hedon near Hull- a New Norman Mint). Obverse fine, reverse very fine, only two other coins (same type, same dies) known of this mint (£3,000-4,000)

Obverse good very fine, the reverse poorly struck (very woolly), extremely rare, only two other coins known of the moneyer (BMC 214, re-attributed, and Archbishop Sharp) from different dies, and five other coins of the mint (see next two lots) (£500-600)
Hereford, Rogier ?, obverse same die as last, with annulets on collar and in crown, reverse [-] OGI [--], 20.0 grains. Two thirds flat flat, fine, put to Hereford on the obverse die link, the moneyer not recorded for the mint (£350-400)

Part flat, obverse fine, reverse very fine, extremely rare, the second known coin of the moneyer and the sixth known coin of the type (see last two lots), the moneyer know for Henry I and Stephen type I (Prestwich Hoard) (£500-600)

One edge flat, otherwise very fine, the mint only known for type I (Ravenswert and Rodbert), the moneyer possibly Warin, the only moneyer of the Tealby type of Henry II (BMC 702-4), though the position of the initial cross is not certain (£750-850)

Off-centre, bent through 45 degrees and cracked, almost very fine, the mint extremely rare in this type, Seaman lists one coin of Hue (BMC 220, a die duplicate), and coins of Saiet (GCD 715) and Stifne (SCMB, Oct 1976) known only at Winchester in type I and so attributed to this mint (£150-200)

Northern Mint, types as Stephen type VII, but of distinctive style, 19.7 grains (cf. BMC 224-226). Centres very fine, legends almost totally flat, extremely rare and interesting (£1,000-1,200)
