A pearl choker necklace, composed of a French early 20th century diamond and pearl roundel, the central pearl set within a circle of diamonds, and a fine latticework surround with outer pearl border, the reverse bearing partially struck French hallmarks composed of a lozenge maker’s mark and guarantee mark probably for platinum, and the framework numbered indistinctly to the opposing side, possibly ‘1701’, the roundel later mounted to a pearl mesh choker necklace, with white precious metal slide clasp stamped ‘14k’, (all pearls untested for natural versus cultured origin), length 33.5cm, diameter of roundel 17mm. £1,400-£2,000

Condition Report

The central Edwardian roundel has been taken from perhaps a pendant or brooch and later mounted to the mesh collar. The pearls of the roundel are untested, possibly of natural saltwater origin.The stamped maker’s mark shows a dog, with number 3 below. The pendant is stitched with thread to the meshwork section. The roundel and necklace are in good condition, no obvious repairs. Gross weight 17.7gm.
